Hi! I'm Dr. Lexi Loch and I'm grateful you're here. I'm a licensed Naturopathic Physician in Oregon (OR4432) and Washington (NT61230960)- currently offering telemedicine appointments for patients and some in-person appointments at a clinic in SW Portland. I earned a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine at NUNM (Portland, OR) in 2021.
I was first drawn to naturopathic medicine as a small child. Fascinated by the natural world, I could often be found with my hands in the mud, curiously observing plants and animals, and talking to all the woodland creatures. As I grew, I became pulled in many different directions before reconnecting with my intention of pursuing naturopathic medicine.
While attending Carroll University (in Wisconsin) for my undergraduate degree, I was faced with a decision regarding back surgery as an attempt to alleviate chronic low back pain. During my years of playing volleyball at the high school and collegiate level, even traveling to Scotland to represent the United States in overseas tournaments, I was dealing with more frequent and intense low back pain. After many failed treatments and upon much reflection, I decided to explore other healing modalities to address the pain and return to playing volleyball. At the time, I had no idea that naturopathic medicine even existed, let alone was an option. By coming to understand that much of my pain was mental-emotional, I tried mind-body therapies, acupuncture, massage, botanical medicine, physical therapy, dietary changes, prioritizing sleep, and other non-invasive techniques that contributed to my healing process. I am still an avid volleyball player today - whether grass, beach, or indoor!
Before attending NUNM, I worked as a veterinary technician for several years. With a lifelong passion for animals, I volunteered at numerous spay and neuter clinics, fostered animals for local rescue groups, and continue to advocate for animal welfare.
In 2012, I became interested in a position that opened up at a local health food store. Realizing that my passion for natural health was growing exponentially, I accepted a position at Terry Naturally Health Food Store in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I spent countless hours researching ingredients, questions from customers, healing traditions, and ethnobotanical uses of natural medicines. This intense curiosity drove me to seek a position at a supplement company affiliated with the health food store, called EuroPharma. I have been employed in the Scientific Affairs and Education department for EuroPharma (makers of the Terry Naturally, EuroMedica, and Terry Naturally Animal Health brands) since 2014.
While employed at EuroPharma, I was constantly immersed in the fascinating world of natural health. After a few years, I decided to take my passion of natural health one step further and become a licensed Naturopathic Physician. I started school at NUNM in 2017 after moving cross-country from Wisconsin. An active member of the student-tutor program and many clubs on campus, especially Herb Society, I kept quite busy during my time at school. This hard work provided me with the opportunity to be the 2021 Commencement Speaker and graduate with Highest Honors. My clinical experience included rotations with NDs specializing in: women's health, IV therapy, transgender care, primary care, homeopathy, biotherapeutic drainage (UNDAs), botanical medicine, nature cure, oncology, endocrinology, mental health, and minor surgery.
In my free time, I absolutely love to be outside with my partner (AJ) and pups (Gimli, Oso, and Lobo). I find myself in continual awe of the beauty here in the Pacific Northwest and I can frequently be found foraging, wildcrafting, birding, snowboarding, photographing, traveling, longboarding, reading, writing, camping, gardening, and enjoying the stillness of being.
I am filled with gratitude for my friends, family, patients, and Mother Earth. Blessed be!
